Project Bioagriculture and Food Sovereignity
The main objective of this project is that the peasant community, through cooperation and education, will understand that the land is our ally, that if natural resources are scarce, life is also lost, that we are guardians of our food. The exploitation of land, the approach of industrial and intensive agriculture -oriented to export- of speculative trade, which follows the logic of maximum economic benefit and this only brings hunger, poverty and inequality.
A viable model of peasant economic development implies in the first place that this population does not suffer for basic aspects of life such as food, for its high cost of acquisition, mobilization to achieve it, etc. Food sovereignty means giving back to each people or human group the control over the food they produce and consume; this includes access to the necessary technical, political and legal-legal instruments.
Target group
Beneficiaries: 12 farms, 6 in the interior of Silvia and Cajibio indigenous reservation (indigenous) and 6 outside the reservation, in the villages of El Palomar, for a total of approximately 70 people.
Direct population: Men and Women between 24 and 80 years old.
Indirect population: Children and grandparents
Social and economic condition: Corresponds to the inhabitants of the beneficiary farms, small farmers declared so according to Decree 1071 of 2015⁶, who do not have the professional accompaniment to generate processes of sustainable ecological agriculture, with absolute will of transformation, who have greater economic needs and whose only income is product of their agricultural activities.
